“… Last Friday, President Donald Trump signed an executive order halting the admission of new refugees in the U.S.

“The president’s order, enacted with the stroke of a pen at 4:42 p.m. Friday, suspended entry of all refugees to the United States for 120 days, barred Syrian refugees indefinitely, and blocked entry into the United States for 90 days for citizens of seven predominantly Muslim countries: Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen,” writes The New York Times.

The Trump administration signed the order to protect “the United States from foreign nationals entering from countries compromised by terrorism.”

However, liberals have been slamming the president’s move and many of which are referring to the order as the “Muslim Ban.” Attacks have come from liberal media and liberal lawmakers. Multiple stories have emerged about individuals who have “tragically” been excluded from the country.

“As the Statue of Liberty holds her torch of welcome high, there are tears in her eyes as she sees how low this Administration has stooped in its callousness toward mothers and children escaping war-torn Syria,” said Nancy Pelosi, House Minority Leader and California Democrat.

Following the order, airports entered into a “state of chaos” as they had to adjust to the new policy. Refugees and immigrants entering the country were detained or told tShey were not able to enter the U.S.

Trump has made some adjustments, especially with regard to green card holders, but has doubled down on his determination to keep his campaign promise.

“On Saturday afternoon, nearly 24 hours after Trump signed the order, a White House official said the administration was still working to determine the exact meaning of a very important piece of language: “in transit.” The order says that authorities may “determine to admit individuals to the United States as refugees on a case-by-case basis” in instances “when the person is already in transit and denying admission would cause undue hardship,” writes The Huffington Post.

In response, a federal judge in New York blocked the deportation of people stranded in U.S. airports on Saturday night.

“The petitioners have a strong likelihood of success in establishing that the removal of the petitioner and other similarly situated violates their due process and equal protection guaranteed by the United States Constitution,” wrote US District Judge Ann Donnelly in her decision.

However, Trump has faith in the system. “It’s not a Muslim ban, but we were totally prepared,” said Trump on Saturday. “You see it at the airports, you see it all over. It’s working out very nicely, and we’re going to have a very, very strict ban, and we’re going to have extreme vetting, which we should have had in this country for many years.”

His administration has responded to the criticism by saying the government did this as a precaution and it has been vetted out very carefully over the last few weeks.

Hours after several judicial rulings, the Department of Homeland Security said that less than 1% of international travelers arriving in the country on Saturday were inconvenienced by the executive order.

“President Trump’s Executive Orders remain in place — prohibited travel will remain prohibited, and the U.S. government retains its right to revoke visas at any time if required for national security or public safety,” said the Department of Homeland Security in a statement. “No foreign national in a foreign land, without ties to the United States, has any unfettered right to demand entry into the United States or to demand immigration benefits in the United States.”

Trump has continued to adamantly defend the order and White House press secretary Sean Spicer expressed similar sentiments Monday.

“You don’t know when the next attack’s coming,” said Spicer at Monday’s briefing. “And so the best you can do is to get ahead of it because if you wait, you’re going to be reacting. And what I think I want to be clear on is the president’s not going wait. He’s going to make sure he does everything in his power when he can to protect the homeland and its people.”

Editor’s note: It is a good thing Trump is a stubborn man, and sticks to his guns. If he were the usual politician who caved in to media pressure he would have no agenda left….”
